When it comes to Radio Frequency Identification technology, Productive Technologies is considered to be the authority in Oklahoma. We have partnerships with the RTLS worldwide leaders such as Ekahau, Motorola (formerly Symbol) and IBM and Tyco International.
What is RFID anyway?
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) provides wireless identification of assets or people. The most basic part of the RFID system are small RF “tags” which are devices that emit RF signals either periodically (active RFID tags) or when they’re in proximity to an RFID reader (passive RFID tags).
For RFID solutions utilizing active RFID
technology, sensors are set up at regular intervals within a chosen
facility,
which covers the facility in a “sensory network”
that will pick up the location
of a tag anywhere within the system. Once the object with the tag
passes within
an RFID reader’s range (which does not require it to be in
line of sight of the
reader), that reader will collect the wireless signal the tag emits and
then
that signal, and all the information contained in it, can be
transferred to a
computer system to be processed.
This makes it possible to track objects within a controlled
environment, which may be a warehouse, a hospital, a high-security
building, or wherever important valuable assets need to be tracked
closely. Processes can be automated by including item specific
information or instructions within the tag.
